Thanks for Another Great Season!

The VACHL staff would like to thank all participants for another fantastic season! Congratulations to our tournament champion team — the CHIEFS!

We hope everyone had a great experience this year and enjoyed the tournament event at Britannia. More tournament photos can be viewed here.

Spring / Summer Co-ed League at Britannia Ice Rink

Britannia’s Co-ed Hockey League is perfect for novice to intermediate players who want to play organized, recreational hockey this spring and summer.

The goal of the Britannia League is to provide a non-contact, non-aggressive, and fun environment during the off-season. Full hockey equipment is mandatory, and all players must wear at least a half shield.

The league runs from April 26 – August 16 with games on Saturdays at 5:00, 6:30, or 8:00 pm. Player evaluations take place on Saturday, April 19 at:

  • 5:00–6:15 pm
  • 6:30–7:45 pm
  • 8:00–9:15 pm

Playoff Schedule Now Available!

The official VACHL Playoff Schedule has been finalized and can be downloaded here: VACHL Playoff Schedule 2008 (PDF).

Playoff Highlights:

  • All teams play a total of 6 games
  • Teams divided into two pools (A & B) based on regular season standings
  • Each team plays 4 games within its pool (regular season rules apply)
  • Top 2 teams in each group advance to a 4-team tournament
  • Remaining teams face off against same-ranked teams from the opposite pool

Substitute Players

Please note that only registered league players are eligible to substitute due to liability policies.

If your team requires substitute players, another registered player from a different team may be arranged with prior approval from the League Coordinator and both team captains. Currently, there is no official substitutes list for the league.

Happy Holidays! Mid-Season Break

VACHL will be on a mid-season break from Dec. 22, 2007 – Jan. 4, 2008. No games will be scheduled during this time.

  • Last game of the Fall session: Fri, Dec. 19

Build on Your Hockey Skills – Power Skating

Power skating programs help players improve technique and speed. Lessons are offered at Britannia Arena (Sat–Sun) and Kerrisdale Arena (Sundays). A new set of classes begins January 2008.
