VACHL Inclusivity & Hockey Fair Play Policy
Building a respectful, safe, and balanced hockey environment in Vancouver
The Vancouver Adult Co-ed Hockey League (VACHL) promotes equality, fairness, and mutual respect — both on and off the ice. Our Fair Play & Inclusivity Policy ensures every participant, regardless of gender, skill level, or background, can compete safely and confidently.
Core Principles of Fair Play
- Respect: Treat all players, officials, and staff with dignity and sportsmanship.
- Safety: Prioritize controlled play — reckless or aggressive behaviour is never tolerated.
- Equality: Co-ed participation means every player deserves equal opportunity and fair ice time.
- Integrity: Uphold honesty in competition and decision-making.
- Accountability: Players and teams share responsibility for maintaining a positive game atmosphere.
Inclusivity in Team Play
VACHL fosters an inclusive environment that welcomes all genders and backgrounds. Team formation, scheduling, and facility access follow equitable standards defined by the Vancouver Park Board’s Inclusivity Policy.
Facility coordination also aligns with this Fair Play Policy — ensuring fair preparation time, comfort, and accessibility for all players.
Code of Conduct & Enforcement
The league enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, or abusive language. Violations may result in suspensions or permanent removal from the league.
- Offensive or discriminatory behaviour will result in immediate disciplinary review.
- Captains and referees are responsible for de-escalating conflicts before they affect gameplay.
- League coordinators may review recorded incidents or team reports for recurring issues.
Repeated violations affect player eligibility and may impact performance analytics used in season projections.
Reporting & Feedback
Players or teams who experience or witness violations of this policy should contact the league immediately at vachl.hockey@gmail.com.
Reports are confidential and reviewed by the VACHL Fair Play Committee in collaboration with the Vancouver Park Board to ensure fair and timely resolution.
